I am trying to be one of these. I'm a Discipleship Pastor at a large church in an area where I've lived 22 years. I have a PhD in old testament and I teach at a local seminary and college part time. I've been trying to do what you're describing for about 10 years. I'm not claiming that I'm great at it. I'm just asserting that there are people trying to do this.
